There are a wide variety of reasons patients prefer orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® to traditional metal braces. One of those reasons is the system's adaptability to fit each person's lifestyle. If you live in or around Calgary, experienced Invisalign® provider Dr. Gordon Chee can advise you on the steps you should take for best results.
A major difference between braces and Invisalign® is freedom. While braces are attached to the teeth throughout treatment, Invisalign® shifts teeth and the bite using removable plastic aligner trays.
Unlike braces, the aligners can be taken out at any time. However, some restrictions do apply. For proper orthodontic correction to take place, Dr. Chee will recommend that you do the following:
Wear the aligner trays for 20 to 22 hours each day
Take the aligners out before you brush your teeth, eat a meal or play sports
After wearing an aligner for two weeks, throw it out and start using a new tray
Keep an appointment with Dr. Chee every six weeks so he can assess the progress of your treatment and give you your next set of aligners
Your Invisalign® treatment is customized to address the unique issues you'd like to change about the appearance and alignment of your mouth. Though Invisalign® requires less time and maintenance than traditional braces, it's still important to follow all recommended steps diligently for ideal correction.
