When we design your new smile, we start with the face and design the smile to suit your face resulting in a beautiful harmony between your new smile and your natural facial features.
With enhanced digital images, we can peel away the face layer to see in detail where the teeth need to be and how they need to be sized and proportioned to achieve the optimal look that we designed.
From there, a digital wax up is made and can be used as a matrix for the temporaries to be made following teeth preparation for crowns, veneers, or other restorations. The wax up can also be used to create a mock-up on your teeth prior to performing any treatment so that you can get an idea of what is possible with your dental restorations and how the treatments can improve your smile.
This digital design can be carried through to the final smile makeover as the porcelain work is milled by CAD/CAM technology using the computer file. This creates a consistent and precise workflow from start to finish.
An added advantage of Digital Smile Design is using the teeth donator database, which is a database of scanned teeth from real dental patients. Instead of a lab technician creating teeth in an attempt to resemble real teeth, they can choose real teeth from real people to recreate porcelain units that have the natural contours and textures of real teeth, thus creating a more natural look for your final smile.
