Whats the Procedure for Having a Tooth Bonded? (Tooth Bonding Calgary)

Tooth bonding is a very simple dental restoration for correcting chipped teeth, deformed teeth, or gapped smiles. The procedure is relatively quick and can be completed in a single visit.

First, you will be evaluated to determine if you are a good candidate for tooth bonding and make sure it will give you the results you desire. Next, your tooth will be prepared to receive the bonding material. This may involve removing some damaged material in the case of a chip, but it will always involve roughing the surface slightly so it bonds better to the composite material.

Are You Afraid of the Dentist?

Has fear of the dentist prevented you from getting the cosmetic services you deserve and the general dental cleanings required for a healthy mouth? If so, you are not alone. Thousands of Canadians suffer from dental phobia that causes increased anxiety and discomfort at the mere mention of dental procedures. Dealing with Dental Phobia At Aesthetic Dental Studio, we understand how uncomfortable a visit to the dentist can be for some people.

Choosing a Family Dentist

When choosing a family dentist there are many things to consider. How much experience and specialized training does the dentist have? Does the dentist include children in the practice and make special accommodations for their care and comfort? What is the practice's policy on after hour emergencies? Do they offer pain-free and anxiety-free dentistry options? Did they welcome you warmly and in a caring manner? The right answers to these questions will assist you in making the correct decision when choosing a family dentist.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are just one of the tools we use at our state-of-the-art dental practice. X-rays are a necessary part of keeping our patients healthy and can detect problems before they start. They reveal bone loss due to periodontal disease, show decay, impacted teeth, and abscesses, and help determine if you need a root canal or a filling.
There are several benefits to using digital x-rays, including:

Pregnancy and Your Oral Health

If you are pregnant you may notice changes in your gums. They may appear redder in color and even bleed when you brush. This is known as pregnancy gingivitis. You may notice these symptoms anytime between your second month and your baby’s birth. Pregnancy gingivitis probably occurs due to high levels of hormones and changes in your immune system. These hormones may encourage the growth of certain types of bacteria which cause gingivitis.

Gum Disease and Heart Disease: How are they Related?

Gum disease (periodontal disease) starts as gingivitis, red and inflamed gums. This is the result of poor dental hygiene. For lack of brushing and flossing, bacteria have multiplied and spread from tooth enamel to the gums. Their acid excretions cause tooth enamel to decay and cause gums to start withdrawing from the tooth surfaces, enlarging the tiny pockets between teeth and gums. When you do brush or floss, the gums could bleed. This is all removable by a thorough professional cleaning, and preventable by good daily care.
