Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD/TMJ) refers to a medical problem involving the joint in the jaw that connects the lower jaw to the skull in front of the ear. Tooth scaling and root planing keep the gums healthy and lessen the chances you will develop gingivitis (gum disease). Good oral hygiene practices, such as daily brushing and flossing really are not enough to prevent the accumulation of tartar and calculus below the gum line that is the reason people develop gum disease.

The process of tooth scaling scrapes away the bacterial laden plaque and tartar from tooth surfaces, concentrating especially on the root surfaces below the gum line. Root planing is the procedure involved in smooth the root surfaces. A smooth root surface makes it difficult for bacteria and tartar to take hold.

Porcelain veneers are a relatively easy way to correct stained, crooked, and chipped teeth. Generally, three visits will accomplish the veneer placement process: diagnosis and planning, preparing the teeth, and bonding.

One visit number one, Dr. Gordon Chee works closely with his patients to understand exactly the kind of smile they desire. Dr. Chee and his team will explain the veneer process thoroughly, so you understand each of the steps involved.
