Usually, the tooth to each side of the gap is adjusted to preserve symmetry.
In some cases, if the gaps are two wide, a combination of options is used. Your teeth may be pulled closer into alignment first, and then fine-tuned to close any remaining gaps. Care must be taken to leave adequate room between the teeth to allow flossing.
